Club Porter Competition

Another notice,
For the So Cal Homebrew Fest, there is a Porter Competition. This is for braggin’ rights! We want to win this one. So bring your finest porter to the meeting on the 21st of April and we will choose one to represent the club at the fest. You do not have to attend the fest to enter, we will get someone to bring your beer in your stead. The only restriction is that you must be able to fill 1 growler with your tasty brew if your beer is chosen to represent the club. I believe the Homebrew Emporium has some growlers if you need one.
This can be ANY porter, some examples below
Robust Porter
Baltic Porter
Vanilla Porter
Apple and Soy Sauce Porter
Chicken Liver Porter
Basically as long as it is somewhat dark and you want to slap the name “Porter” on it you are good to go.

Yup, just take my basic robust porter recipe, and then in the secondary add about 15 pounds of whole apples, and 2 750ml bottles of soy sauce, make sure it the the salty kind.

Yes, absolutly! The MSG is what balances the beer.

Do you have a good recipe for an Apple and Soy Sauce Porter? I might give that a try next.
