Yeast Cake
I am thinking about dumping a brew on top of a yeast cake from the first batch. What else should I do? I thought I would put the wort in to the carboy, stir(shake) up the yeast. Then siphon off into another carboy.
Does anyone have any other suggestions.

Thanks. It worked like a charm.
Within a short time, it was fermenting. Within 3 hours, it had blown the 3 piece air-lock apart and made a mess. It blew hard enough to hit the roof of my upright freezer. I haven't found the plastic lid to the air-lock yet, but didn't look really hard. To much of a mess.
Word of Caution, think about using a tube into a bucket of water next time.
So I was just thinking about doing this for my next batch. Are you guys storing the yeast some how? Or just leaving it in the keg\carboy? This sounds like a great way to make the brew cheaper and cheaper. Also hitting the wort with O2 after yeast is in doesn't hurt the yeast that you have noticed huh? I have been told that Mason Jar is a good way to keep the yeast, then throw it in where you store your full kegs. So we will see how this goes. First up a London Ale Yeast and Dry London Ale Yeast. I think I will put them right on top of each other in a mason jar, then before next brew hit them with a little yeast nutrient and pitch'm.
Any suggestions other then that?
This is what I did, I racked off the beer and then dumped what was left in to mason jars, well into almost 3 mason jars. RIght to the top, then covered the lid. We will see how it works.

I'll do this on brew day. I'll push the beer out of the carboy with co2 into my kegs, then cap the carboy right after, this purges all the air out leaves only co2. on top of the yeast. I'll brew the next batch then rack my chilled wort right on top of that yeast cake and swirl it around to make sure to get the yeast up in suspension. Then aerate with o2 if you have the means. The carboy should be rockin in about 2 hours. As long as your first beer tastes clean there should be no reason to re-rack into another carboy. I never do and have never had a problem.
