On May 31st Barley and Hops is having a West Coast Brewers Fest. It looks pretty good. This is the first annual so it may have some growing pains. It is rumored that they will have Blind Pig on tap. If for no other reason you have to go for that.

Since the owner of Barley and Hops is in our club, what do you think about asking if we could set up a tent, not to serve, but for recruiting. We could have some info and maybe get some flyer's made up. I believe this would serve 2 functions. 1. Get the club as a whole to an event. It is local so no excuses. 2. Give some exposure to the club and maybe get some new members.

Barley and Hops

You will never have more fun making anything at home more than Beer. Except kids, maybe.

Good idea Randall. If anyone can talk to him before I do feel free to ask. We can work out the details later.

I talk to Scott from Barley & Hops several times a week. In fact he came over and brewed with me last Sunday after I got back from the SCHF. He is mega-homebrewer-friendly.

I'll hit him up. The WC Brewers Fest is basically going to be a tasting inside the restaurant. We've talked several times about the legality of homebrew being served and consumed on-premises, but really don't have a clue how that works. Any insight would be appreciated.

As far as setting up a table for recruiting, I'm sure he'd go for that. I'll talk to him tomorrow to see if I can set it up.

(Blind Pig isn't locked down yet for the event, but he's trying!)

Would it be possible to brew a batch on site? It's not technically beer, yet. I can bring my setup, since I still use propane.

Another thought, even if we can not brew a batch. What if we brought some equipment to show people and be able to explain the process.

If you do bring eqipment it should be the basics for making beer so as not confuse the new recruits with to much science

On Tap; chocolate oatmeal stout, american pale ale )
Fermenting; belgian tripel)

Maybe a little photo tour of making beer would be a helpful recruiting tool as well.

Do you mean Extract keep it simple or Extract and simple All-Grain?

I was thinking that we could have both on-site. Along with ingredients and Recipe.
