So I brewed today. The new mill works great. I brewed a double Blond(1080), and ended up with more sugar in the mash so did another sparge and got about 4 gallons of lower gravity blond(1040).

We'll see how this turns out. I'm thinking of putting some strawberries in the double, bottling it and letting it sit for a while.

Unfortunately it was also hot, so I'm sunburnt, and tired, plus I broke another carboy and cut my finger. I just bought a 6.5 g carboy and wish I hadn't. The 5 gallon one I broke was full of sanitzer and I just tip it to lift it and it burst. The shards barely missed my legs. For safety sake I'm going to go buckets or better bottles from now on.

Yikes, glad to hear it was only a minor cut!

I got to brew today as well, did a Kolsch for the first time. I am working with my super cool fridge to try and keep the temp around 60-65 ish. Not sure if I will be able to or not.

Yeah I just checked on my beer. I put both the first carboy in the freezer at about 65 deg, not sure what temp the wort was. That raised the temp to about 69. I put the other one in and let them sit for about 15 minutes in the freezer. The temp didn't change so I pitch the starters. I just check them and the freezer is 75 deg. I think since I was out in the heat the carboys felt colder than they were. Unfortunately it looks like I pitched both at about 75 deg.

Now that I have most of my equipment together I need to concetrate on some consitencey in my process. It seems like the last 5 times I have brewed I have changes something. Given my profession, I should know better.

Oh well, it may not turn out perfect, but it should be drinkable.

Hey, it just happens I am going to brew also. How's this, I will be using the coffee pot. I will be using left over stout grains. I don't have any hops but I was doing some yard work and cut a bunch of Rosemary and will use that in place. I don't have any yeast either so I will try and use some from the bottom of another bottle I have. You can't get much more home than that. Probably taste like crap if it works at all but it is an experiment.

You will never have more fun making anything at home more than Beer. Except kids, maybe.

Can't make it. Between building my ferment chamber, the real ale fest and brewing today I pretty much blew off everything else. I have work to do, homework to do, and need to do some honeydos. Have fun. Would love to meet your wife.

I actually realized it before it was too late and put some sunscreen on about half way thru. I'm not bad, but I feel it this morning.
