Wanted: Job in the brewing industry
Some of you know the industry fairly well...I'm looking at a potential workman's comp. retirement from the fire department and will need to find something I can do to make up the difference in pay (im allready losing my house over this crap grrr)...
any thoughts? Stone did have an apprentice brewer spot open but right now nothing..and will be a few months yet till I either get better or the city boots me...
Id like to find something fun that I enjoy that pays decent (not rich..just happy)...I have a friend who is an assistant brewer at Miller and all he does is push buttons lol...
when all is said and done yes i should be able to "work"..just not the stresses of fire..and i dont need to get paid alot..but enough to make up the difference from my work comp pay...and yeah i contacted andy allready just need to get back to him. but thanx for the response
Hey BMB & Craft Brewing...Count me in on some of that volunteering time too. Getting layed off has it's advantages sometimes....
dont hijak my thread lol
so...just a note/update. Have been retired for 3 weeks..been job hunting for 2 months or so (started pre jobless date to get a head start)...have applied for probably over 100 jobs..and not ONE interview yet.
Have applied for I think 4 jobs at Stone without even an email back saying they got my resume let alone an interview haha. Turned down by $10-11/hr jobs like Enterprise Rent-A-Car because I have no sales experience (well recent). I guess a 4yr degree in Business Admin and 16 years at one of the toughest physically and mentally jobs in America doesnt even buy you a minimum wage job now-a-days.
Sooo...if anyone has any thoughts or just off the top of thier head knows of any openings for well..at this point ANYTHING let me know..I'll apply.
Thank you
You don't happen to have any military intelligence experience, do you? Perhaps an active security clearance?
no i sure dont. Just a firefighter/medic for 14 years, degree in business admin and above average intelligence. Im at the point where im actually looking at minimum wage jobs. Im just getting desperate but limited physically on what I can do....Can't stand or walk for long periods of time without the ability to sit when I need to. I can learn pretty much anything as long as its not toooo technical. Just wish stone would wake up and at least respond to me.
Stone is hiring 35 at an upcoming job fair.
yeah im so gonna go there..just wish i had SOME idea what some of the different positions paid
Update: after numerous attempts just to get someone from HR at Stone to acknowledge that they even received my application and multiple resume attempts (different positions)...AND going to the job fair and not hearing back....I give up on that. Which is a bummer as I have alot to offer. Luckily I still love their beer so won't hold it against them hahaha.

Are you going to be able to Lift more than 50 lbs. and also spend most of your day standing.
Of course your friend does nothing but pushes buttons, have you tasted their beer?
But serious, the big breweries are mostly automated. But Craft breweries are mostly a manual process with a few exceptions.
Don't expect to get paid a lot of money either.
Keep an eye out with Stone. They have positions from time to time. Most of the time they will hire for the bottling line and then you move over into the brewery operations as needed.
You can also ask Andy to call you whenever he needs help. You can volunteer at BMB or any other Craft Brewery and put that on your resume.
Good luck.
