Brewing - 3/22/2009
I am brewing on Sunday (3/22/2009). Stop by if you would like to. Here is a link to a map and address where I live. I live in the Redhawk/Vail Ranch area on Hwy 79 South/Temecula Parkway. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=44883+Meliss... I will be starting at 8 AM. I will be brewing the following Kolsh - 10 gallons American Brown - 5 gallons
Yeah just got this too. But its probably for the best. Ive been sick all weekend.
How did the brewing go dude!
It went well. 15 Gallons of beer produced without any issues. Starting to clean-up at 4 PM and had fermentation starting to show by 9 PM. Man what a difference yeast starters make.
The brewing stand worked out well. I added a sight guage and thermature to my HLT prior to brewing on Sunday morning, that worked out well. Made it nice not to climb a ladder and measure water in the HLT.
It rained a bit while we were mashing in on the first batch. I had to wash out my bucket to get rid of the Grain rain drop spots.
I need to work on Effiency. I over shot the OG on one batch, and I under shot the OG on the other.
Planning to brew again in 2-3 weeks.
By 15 gallons, did you make a 5 and a 10, I have yet to try to make 15 gallons on my 15 gallon kettle.
I did a 5 and a 10 gallon batches.
10 G. Kolsh
5 G. American Brown
Actually, they were 11 G and 6 G in the fermentor. I have the 6 G in a Glass Carboy and the 11 G in a Sankey keg.
I have yet to make a 15 G batch. I figure that the largest batch that I would brew would be 12 G. This gives me space in the Kettle and in the Fermentor.
Cool, I didn't know if you had put some sort of extender or added water to the boil as it boiled off.

aaaaahhhhhhh just got this. oh well next time. then I can check out your hop setup.
THERE'S NEVER TIME TO DO IT RIGHT, BUT THERE'S ALWAYS TIME TO DO IT OVER!
